We are open during holidays

As a preschool in George Central we understand that working parents don’t get school holidays, which might pose a challenge when children are at home. That is why our preschool remains open during school holidays with a full holiday-care programme at no additional cost. Early childhood development activities continue, although we may arrange some extra fun activities during this time. We are closed only for a specified period during December and January.

Aftercare

We accommodate working parents by having an aftercare service until late in the afternoon. This service is available at an additional cost, as stipulated on our fees letter. Learners are accommodated in safe classrooms and playgrounds, and the fees include an afternoon snack, supervision and limited homework support. Our aftercare service continues during the holidays and you can also enrol your child on a day-to-day basis – and children from other schools can enrol as a holiday visitor.

Early drop-off times

We accommodate working parents with a challenging commute by opening early in the morning. Children are welcomed by their teachers or teacher’s assistants and enjoy some free play before the preschool programme starts later on.

Meals are included

Our school fees include breakfast and lunch. These meals are freshly prepared by a contracted caterer and are delivered to class in time for snack time or meal time. We also carefully accommodate allergies and other dietary requirements, although we might request a medical letter for severe dietary requirements. This is just to ensure that our caterer can correctly interpret and prepare food for your child.

Teachers have assistants

Our classes are divided by age and each teacher has one or more assistants, depending on the group and the number of children in the class. This ensures that each child gets the care and attention they need, and that they can optimally benefit from our preschool programme.

Teachers have first-aid training

Children wholeheartedly run, play, climb, and jump, which may sometimes lead to minor bumps and bruises. This is why our teachers are trained in first aid. Please note that national regulations prohibit teachers from dispensing any medicine, even over-the-counter or herbal tonics, without a valid prescription signed by a medical doctor. Therefore, when a child needs medicine during the day, our first-aid officers dispense medicine in class only if a valid prescription is provided.

Indoor and outdoor play areas

Children learn by interacting with the world around them. That is why our preschool classrooms themselves are considered to be inanimate teachers of sorts. They are designed to allow maximum room for play and movement while being stimulating on a visual and tactile level. An additional indoor play area allows a change in play space on days that the weather doesn’t allow outdoor play. By involving the classroom in the learning experience, your child is engaged in early childhood development even when simply enjoying some lounge time with their friends.

Our outdoor play area is designed to encourage physical play, and generally has synthetic grass to prevent allergic reactions. Children are taken outside to play on days with moderate weather conditions to prevent excessive cold or sunburn. Additional safety measures are taken on sunny days.

Have a look

Curro George has a preschool in George Central along the Garden Route, that provides high-quality early childhood development for children from 3 years to 5 years. We divide our classes by age, carefully control the number of children per class and have an aftercare service. We remain open during the holidays and meals are included in the school fees.
