Curro Academy Wilgeheuwel has a primary school phase in Wilgeheuwel, Roodepoort, that provides high-quality education for learners from Grade R to Grade 7. Our well-rounded approach, small class sizes and enhanced curriculum empower learners with 21st-century skills and knowledge to grow into high-performing, self-confident individuals and to reach their personal, educational and eventual-workplace goals. As a Curro Academy school, we aim to provide the most affordable school fees possible without compromising our academic standards. Our learners even have isiZulu as an additional language option.
Foundation phase: Grade R to Grade 3
Our foundation phase starts by providing the emotional and intellectual foundation required to handle the formal learning that starts in Grade 1. Through our enhanced curriculum provided in small class sizes, we then gradually develop learners’ skills and knowledge in basic areas such as language (comprehension, speaking, and listening), mathematics (counting and understanding numbers), and creative problem-solving in an environment where they enjoy coming to school. At our Curro Academy school, our learners even benefit from being introduced to computers and Robotics through Duplo Lego (as part of our affordable school fees) as well as having Afrikaans and isiZulu as additional language subjects.
Intermediate phase: Grade 4 to Grade 7
In these grades, learners are taught to work with the learned material in a more abstract manner. The nature of the content gradually builds from being tangible and real, to more intellectual and abstract. Our small class sizes and enhanced curriculum provide learners with an inherent dedication to hard work and excellence as well as 21st-century skills to prepare them for the workplace of the future. From this phase onwards, learners further benefit from our 21st-century learning approach by using tablets in class (or other electronic devices). Teaching takes place in English, but learners may choose between Afrikaans and isiZulu as additional language options.
We use tablets in class
Learners from intermediate phase onwards may choose to use tablets in class (or other electronic devices) in class, which further prepares them for the workplace of the future. This allows teachers in our small class sizes to provide learners with additional information or exercises at the touch of a button.

Curro Academy Wilgeheuwel activities
As a Curro Academy school, we believe that participation in activities plays an important role in promoting health, discipline, self-confidence and community. Therefore, our focused activities are designed to help learners discover their inherent talents, or to broaden their exposure beyond their current reference framework. These activities are generally included in our affordable school fees. Some of our activities are aimed at boosting learners’ cognitive abilities, while others provide pure enjoyment.
Our learners further benefit from value-added activities such as extra classes in Mathematics, isiZulu, and Afrikaans and a STEAMD programme (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics, and Design).
