Curro Academy Protea Glen is an independent school in Soweto with a primary school that accommodates learners from Grade R to Grade 7. Our small class sizes, dedicated teachers and enhanced curriculum empower learners with 21st-century skills and knowledge to grow into high-performing, self-confident individuals and to reach their personal, educational and eventual workplace goals. As a Curro Academy school, we aim to provide the most affordable school fees possible without compromising our academic standards.
Foundation phase: Grade R to Grade 3
Our primary school foundation phase starts by providing the emotional and intellectual foundation required to handle the formal learning that starts in Grade 1. Our enhanced curriculum then gradually develops learners’ 21st-century skills and knowledge in basic areas such as language (comprehension, speaking, and listening), mathematics (counting and understanding numbers), and creative problem-solving in an environment where they enjoy coming to school. Learners at our Curro Academy school even benefit from being introduced to Robotics through Duplo Lego.
Intermediate phase: Grade 4 to Grade 7
In these grades, learners are taught to work with the learned material in an abstract manner. The nature of the content gradually builds from being tangible and real, to more intellectual and abstract. Our small class sizes and enhanced curriculum provide learners with an inherent dedication to hard work and excellence as well as 21st-century skills to prepare them for the workplace of the future. Our learners even benefit from having Afrikaans and isiZulu as additional language options as part of our affordable school fees.

Curro Academy Protea Glen activities
We believe that sport plays an important role in promoting friendship, health, team-awareness and self-confidence. Therefore, our focused activities are designed to help learners discover their inherent talents, or to broaden their exposure beyond their current reference framework. These activities are generally included in our affordable school fees unless otherwise stated. While healthy competition is encouraged, the enjoyment of the game is not compromised. Learners are encouraged to participate in sports activities, even if this is merely for physical well-being.
Culture is one of the foundational pillars of developing a well-balanced learner and plays a great role in broadening learners’ reference frameworks. As a Curro Academy school, our learners have the opportunity to participate in a variety of cultural activities, regardless of their interests and abilities in sport or academics. Activities such as chess further help to stimulate thinking patterns such as logical analysis and problem-solving, which help to improve aptitude in subjects such as Mathematics. These activities are generally included in our affordable school fees unless otherwise stated.
Academic extension activities
We have additional academic extension sessions (similar to extra classes) at set times in the afternoons to help learners who are struggling.
