Curro Academy Mbombela Preschool

Academics

Curro Academy Mbombela is an independent school with a preschool phase in Mbombela. We provide high-quality early childhood development for children from 3 years to 5 years, after which they progress to our primary school. Through affordable school fees and a nurturing environment, our small class sizes allow dedicated teachers to build a strong, caring relationship with each child within our internally developed play-based programme.

What do we offer?

As a Curro Academy school, we lay the foundation for your child’s future social and academic life by incorporating play in stimulating, developmental activities such as creative movement and artistic expression. Through affordable school fees, our classrooms are designed to encourage educational curiosity, while our playgrounds are equipped with play structures that inspire physical development through movement and play. Our holistic programme involves you as parents, thereby ensuring that learning and development stretches beyond the classroom.

How do we support your child’s development?

At our preschool, our internally developed programme is designed with the Early Learning and Development Areas (ELDAs) in mind. This approach to early childhood development aims to stimulate physical, social, emotional and cognitive well-being through developmental activities and engaging play areas. ELDAs focus on aspects such as gross motor development, fine motor development, social awareness, communication, spatial awareness and arts. Learners also benefit from activities built around large soft bricks that form the important early foundations for later Robotics studies, which are included in our affordable school fees.

We encourage loose-parts play

The development of curiosity and imagination in early childhood is vitally important to the development of problem-solving skills and critical thinking later on. Therefore, as a Curro Academy school, we encourage playing with loose-parts and multi-purpose playthings, rather than single-purpose toys that don’t involve much imagination. Through loose-parts play, children in our small class sizes, use their natural curiosity to explore previously undiscovered fascinations such as stacking, rolling, sliding, fitting, colours, and more.

Curro Academy Mbombela activities

As a Curro Academy school, we believe that cognitive and developmental activities play an important role in early childhood development. That is why our daily programme is packed with a variety of activities that let children in our small class sizes enjoy unbridled joy while they play and learn. Activities that form part of our programme are included in our affordable school fees.

Extramural activities are optional additional opportunities to strengthen focused areas or hone certain skills. Our extramural activities are offered by private tutors or coaches at an additional cost, and take place on campus.
