Curro Academy Mahikeng has a high school phase in Mmabatho, Mahikeng, that provides high-quality education for learners from Grade 8 to Grade 12. Our small class sizes and enhanced curriculum empower learners with skills and knowledge to grow into self-confident individuals and to reach their personal, educational and eventual workplace goals, while also offering transport and boarding school facilities. Our learners even use tablets in class as part of our enhanced curriculum. Our dedicated teachers and well-rounded approach prepare learners for the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations at the end of Grade 12. We aim to provide the most affordable school fees possible without compromising our academic standards.
Senior phase: Grade 8 and Grade 9
In these grades, we guide learners to adjust to a greater workload of higher intensity. As part of our affordable school fees, our enhanced curriculum places great emphasis on problem-solving and individual thinking. Teaching takes place in English, but Afrikaans and Setswana are offered as additional language options. In addition, learners gain 21st-century skills through subjects such as Computer Literacy and Accounting. As a Curro Academy school, our learners also receive guidance when choosing their elective subjects at the end of Grade 9.
FET phase: Grade 10 to Grade 12
This phase prepares learners for the NSC examinations written at the end of Grade 12. However, we emphasise a greater world-readiness rather than a purely examinations-driven approach. As part of the benefit of having small class sizes, our learners are taught to think innovatively, express their ideas and take charge of their own lives, to be valued members of the community. Some of our focused subjects are Physical Sciences and Geography.
We use tablets in class
High school learners in our small class sizes may choose to use tablets in class rather than textbooks, which further prepares them for the workplace of the future. This further provides learners with 21st-century skills such as collaboration and digital communication.

A wider subject choice
High school learners can now extend their subject choices beyond what is offered at our school. Learners can choose from a wide range of subjects, and classes will take place during the school day in the form of live lessons with teachers. These subjects can be seen as an extension of our enhanced curriculum from which learners already benefit. Curro Academy Mahikeng activities
We believe that outreach programmes are important not only to benefit the community, but also to develop appreciation and empathy in our learners. Therefore, we host various ad hoc outreach programmes during the year.
We believe that participation in sports and cultural activities plays an important role in promoting health, discipline, self-confidence and community. Therefore, our focused activities are designed to help learners discover their inherent talents, or broaden their exposure beyond their current reference framework. These activities also provide learners with 21st-century skills, such as teamwork, patience and dedication.
We also offer value-added programmes as part of our affordable school fees, that include character-building, dedication to hard work, career guidance and entrepreneurship skills.
