Academics
Creston College has a primary school phase in Oslo Beach, Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal, that provides high-quality education for learners from Grade 1 to Grade 7. Our enhanced curriculum takes a holistic approach to education and, as a Curro Select school, our small class sizes, specialised subjects and dedicated teachers provide learners with 21st-century skills to grow into self-confident individuals.
Foundation phase: Grade 1 to Grade 3
With dedicated teachers and small class sizes, our foundation phase starts by providing the emotional and intellectual foundation required to handle formal learning. We then gradually develop learners’ 21st-century skills and knowledge in basic areas, such as language (comprehension, speaking and listening), mathematics (counting and understanding numbers) and creative problem-solving, in an environment to which they enjoy coming. As part of our enhanced curriculum, learners also benefit from learning isiZulu as an additional language, which is included in our school fees.
Intermediate phase: Grade 4 to Grade 7
In these grades, primary school learners are led into more abstract thought and independent work. Our small class sizes and dedicated teachers prepare them for high school by teaching them how to apply the 21st-century skills and concepts they have learned. As a Curro Select school, we also promote creativity and critical thinking by encouraging children to make their own choices within well-established boundaries. As part of our competitive school fees, some of the specialised subjects in our enhanced curriculum include Robotics and Technology. Teaching takes place in English, but Afrikaans and isiZulu are offered as additional languages.

Creston College activities
School activities
As a Curro Select school, we believe that participation in sports and cultural activities plays an important role in promoting health, team-awareness, discipline and self-confidence, in addition to physical and social well-being. As our school has a formidable sports and cultural performance record, we offer a wide variety of sports and cultural activities, including Curro Create programmes and value-added programmes. These activities are generally included in the school fees, unless otherwise stated.
Value-added programmes
As a Curro Select school, we offer a wide variety of value-added programmes as part of our school fees. These life-enriching programmes include educational tours, anti-bullying programmes, character-building programmes, and more. We also have in-house occupational, play and speech therapists, as well as a counsellor.
Curro Create
We offer Curro Create programmes aimed at helping learners develop their creative talents to their full potential. Curro Arts Superhero (CAS) is an internal creative mentorship platform with a grading element, where learners are encouraged to discover, develop and display their inherent creative talents. Learners have the opportunity to participate in the annual Curro Create National Youth Theatre Festival, for which schools enter a one-act play in any genre and official language. The winning plays are chosen through a series of adjudications by world-class theatre-makers, who closely mentor learners throughout the process.
