Creston College has a high school phase in Oslo Beach, Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal, that provides high-quality education for learners from Grade 8 to Grade 12. As a Curro Select school, our small class sizes, dedicated teachers, competitive school fees and enhanced curriculum prepare learners for the IEB examinations at the end of Grade 12.
Senior phase: Grade 8 and Grade 9
In these grades, we guide learners to adjust to a greater workload of higher intensity. As a Curro Select school, our enhanced curriculum places a great emphasis on 21st-century skills such as problem-solving and individual thinking, while advanced technology is implemented in subjects such as Robotics and Natural Sciences. Furthermore, learners in high school may use tablets in class, and they receive guidance when choosing their elective subjects at the end of Grade 9.
FET phase: Grade 10 to Grade 12
This phase prepares learners for the IEB examinations written at the end of Grade 12. However, we emphasise a greater world-readiness rather than a purely examinations-driven approach. Through our enhanced curriculum – supported by competitive school fees – our learners are taught to think innovatively, express their ideas and take charge of their own lives one day. By teaching them these 21st-century skills, we help them reach their goals and become self-confident, achieving adults. Some of our specialised subjects, made possible by our small class sizes, include Engineering Graphics and Design (EGD) as well as Sports and Exercise Sciences.
We use tablets in class
High school learners may choose to use tablets in class rather than textbooks, which further prepares them for the workplace of the future. Our small class sizes make it possible for dedicated teachers to create and send additional explanatory material at the click of the button.
A wider subject choice
High school learners can now extend their subject choices beyond what is offered at our school. Learners can choose from a wide range of subjects, and classes will take place during the school day in the form of live lessons with teachers. These subjects can be seen as an extension of our enhanced curriculum from which our learners already benefit. Find out which subjects are available, and gain more information about this personalised learning experience.
We value dedication and excellence in academics. Scholarship assessments for the next academic year take place during the first term of the year, and families are contacted shortly afterwards. We may also offer scholarships in other areas of excellence. Available scholarships will depend on the year and are at the school’s discretion.

Creston College activities
As a Curro Select school, we believe that participation in sports and cultural activities plays an important role in promoting health, team-awareness, discipline and self-confidence in addition to physical and social well-being. As our school has a formidable sports and cultural performance record, we offer a wide variety of sports and cultural activities, including Curro Create programmes and value-added programmes. These activities are generally included in the school fees, unless otherwise stated.
Additional and extramural programmes
As a Curro Select school, we offer a wide variety of additional programmes at an additional cost. These programmes range from developmental and educational to recreational and character-building. Depending on the grade, these programmes include academic-support lessons, outreach programmes, Robotics, olympiads and more.
We offer Curro Create programmes aimed at helping learners develop their creative talents to their full potential. Curro Arts Superhero (CAS) is an internal creative mentorship platform with a grading element, through which learners are encouraged to discover, develop and display their 21st-century skills and inherent creative talents. Learners have the opportunity to participate in the annual Curro Create National Youth Theatre Festival, for which schools enter a one-act play in any genre and official language. The winning plays are chosen through a series of adjudications by world-class theatre-makers, who closely mentor learners throughout the process.
Curro Alumni programme
Curro Alumni aims to reconnect former matriculants with one another and keep them updated on developments within the Curro family. By treasuring our past, we can build our future together. We hope to build a meaningful and personal connection with our members by sharing their success stories and staying updated on their lives through social media. Alumni members enjoy several benefits, including exclusive offers for their children at selected schools. View Curro Alumni’s website for more information.
