Curro Durbanville hosts a successful Curro Cup 2022 Hockey Tournament

 

Curro Durbanville hosted the Curro Cup 2022 Hockey Tournament recently (31 March – 2 April) in which 40 teams from 13 different Curro schools across the country were competing.

40 teams consisting of 16 players each, competed in fierce 45-minute matches for the chance to lift one of four trophies. Learners from 13 different Curro schools from across the country took part in the tournament with Curro Hazeldean triumphing in the under 13 boys category and Curro Durbanville Primary for the under 13 girls. Learners from the Curro Durbanville High school took first prize in both the girls’ and boys’ tournaments in the under 19 categories.

Other notable mentions include Curro Aurora (second place in boys under 13s), Curro Serengeti (third place in girls under 13s), St Dominics Newcastle (second place in boys under 19s), and Waterstone College (third place in boys under 19s). “The Curro Cup is a great opportunity for learners, staff, and parents from different Curro schools to come together, enjoy and applaud exemplary sporting successes. I am especially proud of the achievements of Curro Durbanville for not only hosting a great tournament but for also bringing home three of the four trophies. Well done to the staff and fabulous learners,” says Curro Holdings CEO, Andries Greyling.

The Curro Cup aims to identify the independent school group’s best sports stars and teams across 12 sporting codes. This year’s competition kicked off in February 2022 with learners already competing for trophies in athletics, mountain biking, netball, rugby, and hockey. Tournaments for eSports, swimming, and golf, are scheduled in the upcoming weeks.
