Manners maketh the man.
Knowing just how to conduct themselves in business, how to treat women, and how to handle themselves at a dinner party, are all vital soft skills young men need in their arsenal before entering society.
At Curro Mount Richmore the need to guide boys on the journey to manhood is now being formalised with the launch of ‘The Gentleman’s Society’.

Lead by Executive Head Mr Bryn Thomas, the school’s Grade 12 learners will have the opportunity to learn everything from how to network, to opening a door for the opposite sex, while building young men of character.
Launched on Thursday evening last week, The Gentleman’s Society aims to equip young men with the skills needed to conduct themselves appropriately in a myriad of situations.
Although humour was also in great supply at the first gathering of The Gentleman’s Society, learners enjoyed a 3-course meal served bravely by their Grade 8 counterparts.

Mr Thomas explained the correct dining etiquette as the young men were encouraged to make appropriate conversation while minding their table manners.
“We chose to start The Gentlemen’s Society in order to restore old-school values into the hearts of our young men,” said Mr Thomas.
“My passion is to see children excel in life, take every opportunity they have to give only the best of themselves.
“We want them to leave school with the fundamentals of good manners and an ethical character as these traits are the basic building blocks of society,” he said.
