‘Groundbreaking’ news for Curro Mount Richmore

Construction has begun on a brand new and long-awaited AstroTurf hockey field at Curro Mount Richmore school in Salt Rock.

Ground officially broke on August 30 with the school reporting its excitement over the new field as it looks forward to taking their offer of hockey to new heights.

Curro Mount Richmore has 2 hockey coaches, both highly qualified and avid players with a wealth of achievements.

Johan Jacobs is a high school teacher at Curro Mount Richmore and Jarryd Byron is the in-house school psychologist.

Mr Byron coaches at primary school level and Mr Jacobs coaches at high school level.

Mr Byron has also played provincial hockey for many years, having played in the Wanderers Premier League and the KZN Coastal Country and SA country Districts.

Mr Jacobs, has umpired for inter-provincial tournaments for just over 4 years and also coached the KZN Inland Country District boys.

“We are so grateful to all parties involved with this project, we have received tremendous support from both our community and the estate in which our school is based,” said head of school, Executive Head, Mr Thomas.

“Our school has been blessed with incredible staff and motivated learners. As our school continues to grow, we wait in anticipation to share all that we have with our community,” he said.
