Curro Mossel Bay learner chosen to compete in the African Union Region Youth Games

Mossel Bay athlete Ricardi Matthee has been chosen by the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) to compete in the African Union Region 5 U20 Youth Games.

He will compete in the 100m and 200m races. Ricardi will be part of the 240 athletes taking part from South Africa in the Games next month in Lesotho.

The family thanks Vivienne Eleanor Merrington Hamman, Wentzel Barnard of the Western Province Sports Association for the Physically Disabled (WPSAP), Maties Para Sport and Curro Mossel Bay Private School for their faith in and support for Ricardi.

Ricardi is a 16-year-old, Grade 10, Curro Mossel Bay learner.

At the Eden Sport Awards held on Friday, 19 November, Ricardi received the award for Junior Sportsman of the Year with a Disability. The next day he heard the good news about taking part in the Youth Games.
