Meridian Pinehurst is an independent school in Pinehurst, Durbanville that offers high-quality education for learners from 3 months to Grade 12. With controlled class sizes, dedicated teachers and focused sports and cultural activities, we try to ensure affordable school fees without compromising our academic standards or enhanced curriculum.
As a Meridian School, our school is managed by Curro as part of a joint venture with Old Mutual.
What do we offer?
At Meridian Pinehurst, we develop learners into well-rounded individuals by cultivating a lasting love for learning in a safe, stable environment. Our nursery school offers a safe, nurturing environment where teachers and assistants engage children in weekly themed programmes. Our enhanced curriculum provides a strong basis in the foundation phase through specialised programmes (such as the Bazoo integrated literacy programme) and continues to build the skills and knowledge required to succeed later on in primary school and high school.
Our academics are complemented by a variety of activities that provide physical and intellectual enrichment and our learners are prepared for the NSC (National Senior Certificate) matric examination at the end of Grade 12. Our learners also benefit from dedicated teachers who go beyond academics to model positive behaviour such as integrity, commitment, integrity, respect and self-worth.
We also offer several value-added programmes, which are included in the school fees, aimed at enriching high school learners’ academic experience and broadening their field of knowledge. In addition, isiXhosa is offered as an optional first additional language from Grade 7.
Which activities do we offer?
We believe that participation in sports and cultural activities plays an important role in promoting health, team-awareness, discipline and self-confidence. Therefore, we offer a wide variety of activities that are designed to help learners discover their inherent talents, or to broaden their exposure beyond their current reference framework. These activities are generally included in the school fees. Our learners also benefit from participating in Curro Arts Superheroes, a mentorship programme run by Curro Create.
Our music activities help learners to express ideas and emotions without speaking, while our choir help learners to develop a sense of belonging as well as self-discipline, confidence, perseverance and loyalty. Together, these activities provide our learners with invaluable skills that will enrich their lives well beyond the classroom.
How do we use technology in the classroom?
As a Curro-managed school, all classrooms for subjects such as Technology and Computer Applications Technology are fitted with 21st-century learning tools and equipment to ensure that learners gain skills that will help them adjust in the ever-changing workplace of the future.
Learners from Grade 6 use e-learning devices (tablets) rather than textbooks for specific subjects. Using innovative technology allows teachers to provide a wealth of information at the touch of a button and better prepares learners for the workplace of the future.
