Senior phase: Grade 8 and Grade 9
At Curro Uitzicht, our Grade 8 and Grade 9 learners are guided to adjust to a greater workload of higher intensity, while still receiving the support they need. Our teaching is aimed at developing innovative and critical thinking, while a problem-solving approach is taken to subjects such as Mathematics.
Our learners receive guidance when choosing their elective subjects at the end of Grade 9 as well as emotional support from our on-site support team to ensure that they can handle the expected pressure that accompanies high school. We also arrange assessment concessions such as having a scribe or reader based on the learner’s needs.
FET phase: Grade 10 to Grade 12
The FET phase prepares learners for the NSC examinations written at the end of Grade 12. However, emphasis is placed on a greater world-readiness rather than a purely examination-driven approach. Our learners are taught to think innovatively, express their ideas and take charge of their own lives to be valued members of the community.
Our learners receive continued guidance and assistance from teachers and on-site support staff, as well as emotional support to ensure that they are prepared for their final exams, as well as for further studies or the workplace. We also arrange assessment concessions such as having a scribe or reader based on the learner’s needs.
Optional eighth subject through Curro Choice
Curro Choice allows high-school learners at all Curro schools to take an additional eighth subject not offered at their school. Lessons take place in the afternoons through live lessons with teachers, and learners remain enrolled at their schools. Applications remain open throughout the year, and as the final exam is written at the school, their subject results will appear on their regular progress report.
