Foundation phase: Grade R
Grade R is the bridge from the tangible world to the world of symbols and numbers in Grade 1. Therefore, we focus on an integrated play-based programme that aims to develop the children’s phonological, literacy, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills in a fun way.
Learners in Grade R already benefit from our Robotics programme, through activities built around large soft bricks. These activities form the important early foundations for later Robotics studies and greatly help to strengthen gross- and fine motor skills.
Learners in Grade R and Grade 1 further benefit from music enrichment classes, which will include the basics of music and rhythm in ukulele and recorder. These enrichment classes carry great benefits for cognitive, physical, and musical talent development of young minds.
Foundation phase Grade 1 to Grade 3
In Grade 1 to Grade 3 we focus on teaching the basic skills, concepts and knowledge required for further learning. We offer a vibrant, invitational atmosphere where learners enjoy coming to school and where they acquire a love for learning that will sustain them throughout their school years. We also create opportunities for personal growth so that learners can become personally responsible and accountable for their actions in the intermediate phase.
Intermediate phase: Grade 4 to Grade 6 (and Grade 7)
In these grades, the emphasis is still on establishing basic foundations, but learners are led into more abstract thought and independent work. We prepare learners for high school by teaching them how to apply the skills and concepts they have learned. We also promote creativity and critical thinking by encouraging children to make their own choices within well-established boundaries.
Some of our specialised subjects include Economic and Management Sciences, Information Technology, and Music and we use e-learning devices in our classroom in this phase.
