Curro Brackenfell is a leading independent school in Brackenfell, Cape Town that provides high-quality education to learners from Grade R to Grade 7. With small class sizes accommodating both English and Afrikaans, our enriched curriculum provides learners with 21st-century skills in areas such as robotics and coding, as well as vital soft-skills such as critical thinking and problem-solving.
Our nursery school, Curro Castle Brackenfell, offers an integrated play-based programme to learners from 3 months to 5 years. View their webpage to see how we apply our internally-developed programme to support your child’s early learning and development goals.
What do we offer?
At Curro Brackenfell, we balance academic excellence with sports- and cultural well-being, thereby ensuring that learners develop into well-rounded individuals. Our learners benefit from our specialised offerings such as Robotics and Information Technology. Many of our learners have even continued to compete on international level at several World Robot Olympiads.
Our acclaimed Music department, with experienced and dedicated teachers, have seen our choirs win several eisteddfods and even win the 2019 Sing in Harmonie competition on kykNET – an astonishing accomplishment for a school that has only had a choir for two years. Learners in Grade R and Grade 1 further benefit from music enrichment classes, which carry great benefits for cognitive, physical, and musical talent development.
Which facilities do we have?
Our school was designed with state-of-the-art facilities in mind. Our fully equipped, modern IT lab allows the incorporation of Virtual Reality (VR) in several subjects, while our modern Robotics lab allows learners to develop age-appropriate skills that form the important early foundation for more advance Robotics studies later on.
How do we use technology in the classroom?
We embrace 21st-century learning by using tablets in the classroom. Rather than heavy textbooks, learners use software to view and study from an e-book. When you enrol your child, the school fees include the technology provision and support services. However, you would still need to purchase the tablet and accompanying e-books. Further information will be provided after enrolment. Virtual reality (VR) is also incorporated into subjects where relevant.
Our Robotics lab helps learners to develop the skills and knowledge required to understand the real-life moving result of work done on a computer, thereby laying the foundation for coding and Robotics studies later on.
Which activities do we offer?
We believe that participation in sports and cultural activities plays an important role in promoting friendship, discipline, team-awareness and self-confidence in addition to physical and social well-being. Therefore, we offer a wide variety of activities aimed at ensuring that our learners develop into well-rounded individuals. Many of our activities also enhance the academic offerings, such as our robotics club. Our learners have even competed at international level at several World Robot Olympiads.
