Magic Beings Nursery School

Academics

Magic Beings is an independent nursery school in Johannesburg North, Gauteng, that provides high-quality early childhood development for children from birth to 5 years, that incorporates the ELDAs. Our excellent staff-child ratios and small class sizes allow our dedicated teachers to engage each child in our internally developed play-based curriculum and to build strong, caring relationships with each child.

Our school is next to Cooper College, a Curro Select school, which allows children to easily progress from nursery school to primary school in a familiar environment. Our campus is separate from the Cooper College primary and high school buildings to improve access control and ensure the children’s safety on the playground.

What does Magic Beings offer?

At Magic Beings, we lay the foundation for your child’s future social and academic life by incorporating play in stimulating, developmental activities such as creative movement and artistic expression. By involving parents in their child’s learning experience, we provide a holistic development programme at affordable school fees that stretches beyond the classroom. Our small class sizes are divided by age group, which allows our teachers to spend quality time with each child.

How does Magic Beings support my child’s development?

As a Curro Select school, our internally developed programme is designed with the Early Learning and Development Areas (ELDAs) in mind and aims to stimulate physical, social, emotional and cognitive well-being through developmental activities and engaging play areas. ELDAs focus on aspects such as gross motor development, fine-motor development, social awareness, communication, spatial awareness and arts.

We focus on early childhood development through the ELDAs

As a Curro Select school, we incorporate the latest research in physical and cognitive development. Our small class sizes, carefully designed playgrounds, safety measures and daily programmes make our nursery school a safe and fun-filled home away from home.

We encourage parent involvement

At our nursery school, we love involving parents. For moms who might need advice about feeding, weaning, teething, etc. our baby centre supervisor is always on hand, as part of our school fees. Our parents are involved when it comes to annual highlights such as Mother’s and Father’s Day mornings and Easter egg hunts. We also regularly send informative newsletters home to keep parents up to date on school activities, fundraisers and events.

Group 1

In this group, our focus is on establishing a stable, healthy routine that includes age-appropriate stimulation, tactile play, music and storytelling. Daily progress charts monitor each child so that we are able to proactively manage their general well-being.

Groups 2 to 4

Our dynamic routine for Groups 2 to 4 follows weekly themes, which are complemented by exciting, age-appropriate activities that encourage the development of communication skills, fine and gross motor skills, and concentration.

Group 5

We have an exciting academic programme that we have designed to integrate with the Cambridge Assessment International Education system, which is followed at Cooper College, a Curro Select school next to Magic Beings. All activities are linked to an interesting theme and are age-appropriate.

Magic Beings activities

As a Curro Select school, we believe that participation in activities plays an important role in early childhood development. Our daily programme is packed with a variety of physical and cognitive activities as part of the school fees where children play while they learn. In doing so we promote social skills, self-confidence, and physical well-being. Each group has its own playground, with beautiful outdoor equipment and we offer a variety of activities for different age groups.
