At Curro Rivonia, we pride ourselves on providing learners with a well-rounded education that stretches beyond the classroom. That’s why we offer a wide variety of sports and cultural activities that range from fun and recreational, to competitive and specialised (such as Curro Create). Several of these activities are included in our school fees, while others may be offered at an additional cost.

Sports activities

At Curro Rivonia, we believe that sport plays an important role in promoting friendship, team-awareness and self-confidence in addition to physical well-being. Therefore, we offer a variety of sports activities ranging from swimming and soccer to chess and more. Sports activities are generally offered as part of our school fees, unless otherwise stated. Furthermore, while healthy competition is encouraged, the enjoyment of the game is not compromised.

Cultural activities

Culture is one of the pillars on which our school’s identity was built. Our learners have the opportunity to participate in several cultural activities, regardless of their interests and abilities in sport or academics. Cultural activities are generally offered as part of our school fees, unless otherwise stated.

These activities introduce learners to valuable experiences and real-life 21st-century skills that few other platforms allow. Public speaking, for example, provides learners with self-confidence and presentation skills that will benefit them well into their professional lives.

Our drama department holds a big, professional production every year while our choirs participate in various music competitions and eisteddfods. We also have regular art exhibitions and talent competitions and our marimba band often steals the show.

Clubs and societies

Curro Rivonia also has several clubs and societies that allow learners with similar interests to build relationships and collaborate in various projects.

Curro Create

As a Curro School we offer two Curro Create programmes aimed at helping learners develop their creative talents to their full potential: Curro Arts Superhero (CAS) is an internal creative mentorship platform with a grading element, where learners are encouraged to discover, develop and display their inherent creative talents. Learners can also participate in the annual Curro Create National Youth Theatre Festival, wherein schools enter a one-act play in any genre and official language. The winning plays are chosen through a series of adjudications by world-class theatre-makers, who closely mentor learners throughout the process.

This mentorship platform exposes learners to aspects of personal development that few other areas of learning could do – these include 21st-century skills such as presentation skills, proper thought articulation, and self-confidence.

Value-added aspects

As part of our competitive school fees, we offer our learners the best possible school experience. This includes a library, an on-site registered nurse, and a STEAMD classroom equipped with VR sets, a 3D printer, and a laser cutter.

Community outreach projects

As a Curro School, we believe that outreach programmes are important not only to benefit the community, but also to develop appreciation and empathy in our learners. Therefore, we host various ad hoc outreach programmes during the year and learners are actively involved in all areas of the projects.

For information on upcoming outreach programmes, please contact us.

All activities offered at our school can be viewed on our fact sheet (see Downloads).
