Activities

At Curro Mossel Bay, a Curro School, learners have a wide variety of activities from which to choose. From school sports, Curro Create programmes, and community outreach initiatives our learners can gain 21st-century skills in nearly any field they choose.

School activities

We believe that participation in school sports and cultural activities plays an important role in promoting health, team-awareness, discipline and self-confidence in addition to physical and social well-being. As our school has a strong school sports performance record, we offer a wide variety of activities, including a buitelug-klub (outdoor club).

We have an annual art exhibition

The local community is invited to our annual ‘Night of a Thousand Arts’ evening where all learners' artworks are exhibited. All our learners are encouraged to participate in this exciting event each year.

See which activities we offer on our fact sheet (see Downloads).

Curro Create

As a Curro School, we offer Curro Create programmes aimed at helping learners develop their creative talents to their full potential. Curro Arts Superhero (CAS) is an internal creative mentorship platform with a grading element, where learners are encouraged to discover, develop and display their inherent 21st-century skills and creative talents. Learners can also participate in the annual Curro Create National Youth Theatre Festival, wherein schools enter a one-act play in any genre and official language. The winning plays are chosen through a series of adjudications by world-class theatre-makers, who closely mentor learners throughout the process.

Extramural activities

Extramural activities at Curro Mossel Bay are offered by external tutors or coaches. They are offered at an additional cost and generally take place on the school’s premises. Some extramural activities are aimed at improving or supporting academic learning, 21st-century skills or mental and physical development, while others are purely recreational. The marimba band, for example, literally makes the feet tap with their quirky numbers and they play at many events in and out of town. As Mossel Bay is close to many esteemed golf clubs and courses, extramural activities even include golf.

Curro Mossel Bay community outreach

At Curro Mossel Bay, we believe that community outreach programmes are important not only to benefit the community, but also to develop appreciation and empathy in our learners. Therefore, at our Curro School we host various community outreach programmes during the year and learners are actively involved in all areas of the projects.

For information on upcoming outreach programmes, please contact us.
