Sports activities

At Curro Hermanus, we believe that sport plays an important role in promoting friendship, team-awareness and self-confidence in addition to physical well-being. Therefore, we offer a variety of sports activities. While healthy competition is encouraged, the enjoyment of the game is not compromised. Emphasis is placed on good sportsmanship, the role of team members, perseverance, self-discipline and a healthy body and soul. Activities such as Science and Mathematics olympiads and chess further help to stimulate thinking patterns such as logical analysis and problem-solving, which help to improve skills and aptitude for subjects such as Mathematics.

Cultural activities

Culture is one of the foundational pillars of developing a well-balanced learner and plays a fundamental role in building a sustainable and vibrant community. Our learners have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of cultural activities, regardless of their interests and abilities in sport or academics. These activities introduce learners to valuable experiences and real-life skills that few other platforms allow. Participation in eisteddfods, for example, provides learners with self-confidence and presentation skills that will benefit them well into their professional lives.

Curro Create

We offer two Curro Create programmes aimed at helping learners develop their creative talents to their full potential: Curro Arts Superhero (CAS) is an internal creative mentorship platform with a grading element, where learners are encouraged to discover, develop and display their inherent creative talents. Learners can also participate in the annual Curro Create National Youth Theatre Festival, wherein schools enter a one-act play in any genre and official language. The winning plays are chosen through a series of adjudications by world-class theatre-makers, who closely mentor learners throughout the process.

Extramural activities

Extramural activities are offered by external tutors or coaches. They are offered at an additional cost and generally take place on the school’s premises. Some extramural activities are aimed at improving or supporting academic learning or mental and physical development, while others are purely recreational.

Clubs and societies

Curro Hermanus also has several clubs and societies that allow learners with similar interests to build relationships and collaborate in various projects.

Our community programmes

At Curro Hermanus, we believe that outreach programmes are important not only to benefit the community, but also to develop appreciation and empathy in our learners. Therefore, we involve our learners in several community drives and outreach programmes, while a dedicated committee organises particular outreach events twice a year.

Curro Hermanus alumni

Curro Alumni aims to reconnect former matriculants with one another and keep them updated on developments within the Curro family. By treasuring our past, we can build our future together. We hope to build a meaningful and personal connection with our members by sharing their success stories and staying updated on their lives through social media.

Alumni members enjoy several benefits, including exclusive offers for their children at selected schools. View Curro Alumni’s website for more information.
