Our aftercare service is available at an additional cost, as stipulated on our fees letter (see Downloads). Children are accommodated in safe classrooms and playgrounds, and the fees include a freshly prepared meal as well as a snack. Aftercare times can be viewed on our fact sheet.
Our nursery school runs a full holiday-care programme during school holidays, at no additional cost. Regular activities would continue, although we may arrange some extra fun activities during this time. We are closed only for a specified period during December and January.
Teachers have assistants
As a Curro Castle, our classes are divided by age group and each teacher has one or more assistants, depending on the group and the number of children in the class. There are often more assistants for the younger ones, all included in the affordable school fees, to ensure that each child in our small class sizes get the necessary love and attention.
We have a registered nurse on-site during the school day, and all teachers have first-aid training.
Indoor and outdoor play areas
Children learn by interacting with the world around them. As a Curro Castle, our classrooms themselves are considered to be inanimate teachers of sorts. They are designed to allow maximum room for play and movement while being stimulating on a visual and tactile level. An additional indoor play area allows a change in play space on days that the weather doesn’t allow outdoor play.
Our outdoor play areas include jungle gyms, play houses, shaded areas for creative and sensory play, and more. These areas are designed to encourage physical play, and generally have synthetic grass to prevent allergic reactions. Children are taken outside to play on days with moderate weather conditions to prevent excessive cold or sunburn. Additional safety measures are taken on sunny days.
Professional catering service
At our Curro Castle, all meals and snacks are provided by a professional catering company, Feedem. These meals are freshly prepared for children in all age groups at our nursery school. These meals are also included in our affordable school fees and we carefully accommodate allergies and other dietary requirements – catering to individual needs is possible due to our small class sizes.
Parent Advisory Committee (PAC)
We encourage parents to play a role in managing our school through a duly-elected parent advisory committee (PAC). As the name indicates, the PAC’s role is strictly an advisory one – they do not make and enforce decisions regarding school matters. The committee comprises of parents of current learners. Our PAC acts as liaison between the school and parents, raise funds through specific events throughout the year and host social and fellowship events. Through the PAC, parents can share their input in a structured manner to the benefit of the learners and school; as a community they can, therefore, be involved in the operational success of the school.
