Learner sprints ahead in horse-riding championship

Sean Herron, a Grade 11 learner from Curro Somerset West is galloping his way to horse-riding success after qualifying himself and his school for the regional final of the South African National Equestrian Schools Association (SANESA) challenge.

Sean placed fourth in the challenge, first overall for dressage, and second overall for performance riding. A talented rider in the making, he consistently performed well in previous heats, ranking first in the Western Cape leg of the Reserve Champion and coming sixth in the Dressage South Africa National Challenge. He also triumphed in the South African Youth Championship National held in December 2021 for dressage, coming in third for the show riding and show hunter classes for 13- to 18-year-olds.

Despite joining Curro Somerset West only two years ago, Sean’s dexterity on the pitch has helped propel Curro Somerset West higher up the regional rankings to fourth place, with Curro Langebaan in first place and Curro Century City in second place.
