Culture is one of the foundational pillars of developing a well-balanced learner. At Meridian Rustenburg, learners are offered the opportunity to participate in a variety of cultural activities.

Dance

At Meridian we don’t just dance. We perform, breathe and watch the world disappear. Feelings can be released and struggling walls can be torn down. There is no sadness, only smiles.

We don’t just dance, we do so much more.

Choir

Daleen Roux and all learners come together every Wednesday to practise and use their God-given talents to perform for the school and in front of various audiences.

Land Service

Land Service is a youth movement that has the conservation of the environment as its main goal. The aim of Land Service is to appreciate and conserve our environment, foster traditional values, enrich learners spiritually and develop talents. Land Service is open to every youngster in South Africa who is older than six years and who subscribes to the goals of the movement.

Journalism

In March 2016 our first journalism team attended digital journalism training in partnership with Media24. The training focused on basic journalism, article and newspaper production, along with online publication. The newspaper for the primary and high schools, The Meridian Publisher, is published quarterly by the learners. The newspaper focuses on local events, news and achievements of the learners, the educators and the school.

As part of the cultural activities of the senior phase, we also offer value-added programmes that could include the following:

  • Character-building programmes to teach respect, good manners, hard work, honesty and integrity
  • Respect for all cultures
  • Self-worth
  • Career guidance
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Leadership identification and training
