At Curro Klerksdorp, we believe that sport plays an important role in promoting friendship, team-awareness and self-confidence in addition to physical well-being. Therefore, we offer a variety of sports activities, including swimming. While healthy competition (against one another and nearby schools) is encouraged, the enjoyment of the game is not compromised.
Activities such as chess further help to stimulate thinking patterns such as logical analysis and problem-solving, which help to improve aptitude in subjects such as Mathematics.

Culture is one of the foundational pillars of developing a well-balanced learner and plays a great role in building community. Our learners have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of cultural activities, regardless of their interests and abilities in sport or academics.
These activities introduce learners to valuable experiences and real-life skills that few other platforms allow. Participation in eisteddfods and public speaking, for example, provides learners with self-confidence and presentation skills that will benefit them well into their professional lives.
With our market day, the Grade 7 learners have the opportunity to show off their marketing and business skills while our a cappella groups and marimba bands literally make the feet tap with their quirky numbers.

We also offer two Curro Create programmes aimed at helping learners develop their creative talents to their full potential. Curro Arts Superhero (CAS) is an internal creative mentorship platform with a grading element, where learners are encouraged to discover, develop and display their inherent creative talents.
Learners have the opportunity to participate in the annual Curro Create National Youth Theatre Festival, wherein schools enter a one-act play in any genre and official language. The winning plays are chosen through a series of adjudications by world-class theatre-makers, who closely mentor learners throughout the process.
Clubs and societies and value-added programmes
Curro Klerksdorp also has several clubs and societies, such as the gaming club and youth club, that allow learners with similar interests to build relationships and collaborate in various projects. We also offer value-added programmes as part of the school fees and organise regular outings to places of interest in order to broaden the learner’s view of the world around them.
