Windhoek Gymnasium is an independent school situated in Windhoek, Namibia that provides high-quality education for learners from 3 years to Grade 12 in English, Afrikaans or German. We have an absolute holistic approach to education and, as a Curro Select school, our small class sizes, enhanced curriculum and dedicated teachers provide learners with 21st-century skills and knowledge to grow into self-confident individuals.
Our school follows the Namibian National Curriculum up to Grade 10 and the Cambridge Assessment International Education curriculum is followed in Grades 11 and 12, with qualifications designed for an international audience.

Our dedicated teachers give learners personal attention in the classroom, which helps to ensure that they achieve to the best of their abilities. As a Curro Select school, we can offer more specialised options to our learners, such as superior facilities, highly-specialised subjects such as Science and Technology, in which learners build and program Lego robots, and an enriching arts and cultural programme. Teaching takes place in English, Afrikaans or German.
Our learners further benefit from the Cambridge curriculum in Grades 11 and 12. These programmes and qualifications set the global standard for international education. They are created by subject experts and reflect the latest educational research. Cambridge qualifications are designed for an international audience and accepted at over 1 400 institutions across 195 countries; including top-ranking universities.
What does our boarding school offer?
Windhoek Gymnasium’s boarding school offers safe, modern housing for learners from Grade 6 to Grade 12. With a maximum of four learners per room, free Wi-Fi, laundry and housekeeping facilities, comfortable learning areas, and supervision by dedicated teachers and assistants, our boarding school is a safe, comforting home away from home.
How do we use technology in our school?
We embrace 21st-century learning by having by using e-learning devices (tablets) in the classroom from Grade 8 onwards. Rather than heavy textbooks, learners use software to view and study from an e-book, which also allows them to collaborate easily and securely with teachers and peers.
Our learners further benefit from building and programming robots as part of Science and Technology and in the high school learners have the option to take Keyboard and Word Processing as a subject.
Which other activities do we offer?
We believe that participation in activities plays an important role in promoting health, team-awareness, discipline and self-confidence in addition to physical and social well-being. As our school has a formidable sports and cultural performance record, we offer a wide variety of sports and cultural activities, supplemented by extramural activities offered by private tutors or coaches. These activities are generally included in the school fees, unless otherwise stated.
