Foundation phase: Grade R to Grade 3
Grade R is the bridge from the tangible world to the world of symbols and numbers in Grade 1. Therefore, we focus on an integrated play-based programme that aims to develop the children’s phonological, literacy, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills in a fun way. Children from 4 years are accommodated in the foundation phase by teachers and classrooms aimed at helping them develop in physical and cognitive areas.
In Grade 1 to Grade 3 we focus on teaching the basic skills, concepts and knowledge required for further learning. We offer a vibrant, invitational atmosphere where learners enjoy coming to school and where they acquire a love for learning that will sustain them throughout their school years. The three main learning areas are literacy, numeracy and life skills that include creative arts and physical education.
While we create opportunities for personal growth, we emphasise independence and responsibility above competition.
Intermediate phase (Grade 4 to Grade 6) and Grade 7
As a school managed by Curro, the emphasis in these grades is still on establishing basic foundations, but learners are led into more abstract thought and independent work. We prepare them for high school by teaching them how to apply the skills and concepts they have learned. We also promote creativity and critical thinking by encouraging them to make their own choices within well-established boundaries.
Although teaching takes place in English, Afrikaans and Siswati are offered as an additional language option for all learners in the primary school.
