Curro golfers compete for glory

Curro Aurora recently hosted the annual Inter-Curro Golf Challenge that saw young avid golfers competing for socially-distant golfing glory.

The school’s Mageshree Tandree said that the team and individual challenge provided an opportunity for Curro golfers to participate with, and compete against, the boys and girls from the other schools in the Curro family.

Participants played three rounds on any course of their choice outside of the school, and submitted their points scores as individuals and/or as part of the team.

The high school team challenge included 16 teams from nine schools.

The Curro Aurora ‘Blue Pride’ team consisting of Kieron van Wyk, Kim Turgut, Kael Strydom and Stefano Marchetti won the challenge by 98 points.

The Curro Aurora ‘Masters’ team consisting of Brent Barendsen, Arnoux van der Merwe, Berk Turgut and Tae’yn Plaatjies finished in 4th place.

The high school individual challenge included 50 golfers.

Kieron van Wyk, Curro Aurora golf captain, won the challenge by six points. He scored rounds of 70, 67 and 67. Stefano Marchetti finished 4th, Brent Barendsen 6th, Kim Turgut 7th, Kael Strydom tie-8th, Arnoux van der Merwe 13th, Berk Turgut 20th and Tae’yn Plaatjies 28th.

The primary school team challenge included 13 teams from nine schools. All players teed off from the forward tee boxes. The Curro Aurora team consisting of Jayden Hoskins, Casey Twidale, Kaitlyn van der Vyver and Daniel Buckle won by 9 points.

The primary school individual challenge included 44 golfers.

Jayden Hoskins from Curro Aurora won the Challenge by 32 points. He scored rounds of 69, 67 and 72. Casey

Twidale finished 6th, Kaitlyn van der Vyver 9th, Daniel Buckle 20th and Matthew Buckle 23rd.

The foundation phase challenge was an individual event that included 6 golfers.

Matthew Buckle from Curro Aurora finished in 2nd place.

The staff challenge included 18 teams from seven schools. The Curro Aurora staff pairing of Jonathan Wernich and Adrian Ferreira finished in tie-3rd place.

Matthew Buckle from Curro Aurora finished in 2nd place in the foundation phase challenge.

Jayden Hoskins from Curro Aurora won the Challenge by 32 points.

Kieron van Wyk, Curro Aurora golf captain, won the challenge by six points.
