Cape Epic – Send-off for Absa Cape Epic riders at Curro Brackenfell
18 October 2021Curro Brackenfell learners hosted a special send-off for the group’s two sponsored Absa Cape Epic riders, Phillimon Sebona and Jan Montshioa on Thursday, 14 October. Absa Cape Epic is undoubtedly one of the country’s top mountain biking events. This year’s six-day challenge is happening from 17-24 October. Earlier this month, Curro announced that it is joining this year’s action by sponsoring these two riders. They will be riding in the “African Special Category”. Over and above the sponsorship, the independent school group also announced that it will be funding two full scholarships. This is for the children of the winners of the Exxaro category for previously disadvantaged South Africans, under the age of 26.
During the send-off ceremony, Curro Holdings’ Chief Executive Officer, Andries Greyling addressed the learners and special guests. He also handed over the riders’ brand new race kit. As part of the celebrations learners wished Phillimon and Jan all the best for the challenge ahead. Curro Brackenfell learners also formed a tunnel for the two riders to cycle through. This was showing that the school and the entire Curro community are fully behind these enormously talented riders.
Several guests from Absa, Cape Epic, Curro, and Cycle to Ride (C2R), a cycling initiative powered by Curro, also attended the event.
