What do we offer?
At St Dominics Newcastle we balance academic excellence with sports and cultural well-being, thereby ensuring that learners develop into well-rounded individuals. From our nursery school to the high school phase, our formidable sports and cultural activities and enhanced curriculum provide learners with an inherent dedication to hard work and excellence as well as 21st-century skills that empower them to excel in their personal and professional lives. Our mission statement places great emphasis on developing learners to their full potential.
We offer highly-specialised subjects such as Robotics
Our dedicated teachers give learners personal attention in the classroom, which helps to ensure that they achieve to the best of their abilities. As a Curro Select school, we can offer more specialised options to our learners, such as superior facilities, highly-specialised subjects such as Robotics and an enriching arts and cultural programme. Teaching takes place in English, but Afrikaans and isiZulu are offered as additional language options.
What does our boarding school offer?
St Dominics Newcastle’s boarding school offers safe, modern housing for learners from Grade 3 to Grade 12. With free Wi-Fi and DStv, healthy meals, comfortable learning areas, and supervision by dedicated teachers and assistants, our boarding school is a safe, comforting home away from home.
How do we use technology in our school?
All classrooms for subjects such as Robotics and Computer Applications Technology are fitted with 21st-century learning tools and equipment to ensure that learners gain skills that will help them adjust in the ever-changing workplace of the future.
We further embrace 21st-century learning by using e-learning devices (tablets) in the classroom from the intermediate phase onwards. Rather than heavy textbooks, learners use software to view and study from an e-book, which also allows them to collaborate easily and securely with teachers and peers.
Which other activities do we offer?
We believe that participation in activities plays an important role in promoting health, team-awareness, discipline and self-confidence in addition to physical and social well-being. As our school has a formidable sports and cultural performance record, we offer a wide variety of sports and cultural activities. These activities are generally included in the school fees, unless otherwise stated.
