Meridian Newcastle is an independent school in Madadeni, Newcastle that offers high-quality education for learners from Grade 1 to Grade 12. With small class sizes, dedicated teachers and focused sports and cultural activities, we try to ensure affordable school fees without compromising our academic standards or enhanced curriculum.
What do we offer?
At Meridian Newcastle, we develop learners into well-rounded individuals by cultivating a lasting love for learning in a safe, stable environment. Our enhanced curriculum provides a strong basis in the foundation phase through specialised programmes (such as the Bazoo integrated literacy programme) and continues to build the skills and knowledge required to succeed later on in primary school and high school.
Our academics are complemented by focused activities that provide physical and intellectual enrichment and our learners are prepared for the NSC (National Senior Certificate) matric examination at the end of Grade 12. Our learners also benefit from dedicated teachers who go beyond academics to model positive behaviour such as integrity, commitment, respect and self-worth.
We also offer several value-added programmes, which are included in the school fees, aimed at enriching learners’ academic experience and broadening their field of knowledge. In addition, Afrikaans and isiZulu are offered as optional languages in all grades.
Which activities do we offer?
We believe that participation in sports and cultural activities plays an important role in promoting health, team-awareness, discipline and self-confidence. Many of our activities are designed to help learners discover their inherent talents, or to broaden their exposure beyond their current reference framework. These activities are generally included in the school fees. Our learners also benefit from participating in Curro Arts Superheroes, a mentorship programme run by Curro Create.
How do we use technology in the classroom?
As a Curro-managed school, all classrooms for subjects such as Technology and Computer Literacy are fitted with 21st-century learning tools and equipment to ensure that learners gain skills that will help them adjust in the ever-changing workplace of the future.
High school learners further use e-learning devices (e-books) rather than textbooks for specific subjects. Using innovative technology allows teachers to provide a wealth of information at the touch of a button and better prepares learners for the workplace of the future.
What else is nearby?
Situated behind the Meadowlands Estate, Meridian Newcastle is removed from the bustle of Madadeni with a beautiful view of fields looking towards the Ingagane river. Our school is conveniently located for residents of the Madadeni neighbourhoods as well as surrounding Newcastle suburbs.
