Cultural activities offered:
Foundation phase: Grades R to 3
Culture is one of the foundational pillars of developing a well-balanced learner. At Curro Heritage House, learners are offered the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of cultural activities, from choir to drama. In this way, learners can develop a love for art, regardless of their abilities in sport or academics.
We are extremely fortunate at Curro Heritage House to have a music department that is led by an extraordinarily talented pianist and musician, Evan Cullum.
Each class has music lessons factored into their individual timetables and both choirs rehearse for an additional hour a week.
It is under his expertise and guidance that our foundation phase and our intermediate phase choirs learn to perform and sing in an environment that encourages creativity and individuality.
Our choirs perform at various school and regional events that are held throughout the year, for which the learners prepare on a term basis. These performances foster and encourage self-expression, confidence and maturity.
Early-morning marimba lessons take place twice a week in the music room.
Drama at Heritage House forms an integral part of the curriculum and provides our learners with the opportunity to express themselves in a safe space.
In Grade 1 to Grade 7 drama not only forms part of the curriculum, but our junior-primary and senior-primary phase also present school productions. These productions allow learners to experience auditions and to take up various roles on stage.
