Activities

Sports activities

At Creston College we believe that sport plays an important role in promoting friendship, team-awareness and self-confidence in addition to physical well-being. As our school has a strong sports performance record, we offer a variety of sports activities that include specialised activities such as golf and mountain biking. While healthy competition is encouraged, the enjoyment of the game is not compromised.

Activities such as chess further help to stimulate thinking patterns such as logical analysis and problem-solving, which help to improve aptitude in subjects such as Mathematics.

Cultural activities

Culture is one of the foundational pillars of developing a well-balanced learner and plays a great role in broadening learners’ reference frameworks. Our learners have the opportunity to participate in several cultural activities, regardless of their interests and abilities in sport or academics.

These activities introduce learners to valuable experiences and real-life skills that few other platforms allow. Participation in eisteddfods for example, provides learners with self-confidence and presentation skills that will benefit them well into their professional lives.

Every year the school presents the drama and stage productions and we make an effort to encourage every learner to be involved.

Value-added programmes

We also offer value-added programmes as part of the school fees. These include educational tours and excursions, workshops and character-building programmes.

Curro Create

We offer Curro Create programmes aimed at helping learners develop their creative talents to their full potential. Curro Arts Superhero (CAS) is an internal creative mentorship platform with a grading element, where learners are encouraged to discover, develop and display their inherent creative talents.

Learners have the opportunity to participate in the annual Curro Create National Youth Theatre Festival, wherein schools enter a one-act play in any genre and official language. The winning plays are chosen through a series of adjudications by world-class theatre-makers, who closely mentor learners throughout the process.

Read more on CAS and other Curro Create initiatives on their webpage, or visit their Facebook and Instagram pages for videos and photos of past performances.

Extramural activities

Extramural activities are offered by external tutors or coaches. They are offered at an additional cost and generally take place on the school’s premises. Some extramural activities are aimed at improving or supporting academic learning or mental and physical development, while others are purely recreational.
