Sports activities

At Waterstone College, we believe that sport plays in important role in promoting friendship, team-awareness and self-confidence in addition to physical well-being. As our school has a strong sports performance record, we offer a variety of sports activities that include specialised activities such as equestrian. While healthy competition is encouraged, the enjoyment of the game is not compromised.

Our learners further benefit from individual sports academies aimed at developing their inherent skills and talents, particularly when the learner shows great aptitude for the sport.

Cultural activities

Culture is one of the foundational pillars of developing a well-balanced learner and plays a great role in broadening learners’ reference frameworks. Our learners have the opportunity to participate in several cultural activities, regardless of their interests and abilities in sport or academics.

These activities introduce learners to valuable experiences and real-life skills that few other platforms allow. Public speaking and debating, for example, provide learners with self-confidence and presentation skills that will benefit them well into their professional lives.

Curro Create

We offer two Curro Create programmes aimed at helping learners develop their creative talents to their full potential. Curro Arts Superhero (CAS) is an internal creative mentorship platform with a grading element, where learners are encouraged to discover, develop and display their inherent creative talents.

Learners have the opportunity to participate in the annual Curro Create National Youth Theatre Festival, wherein schools enter a one-act play in any genre and official language. The winning plays are chosen through a series of adjudications by world-class theatre-makers, who closely mentor learners throughout the process.

Extramural activities

Extramural activities are offered by external tutors or coaches. They are offered at an additional cost and generally take place on the school’s premises. Some extramural activities are aimed at improving or supporting academic learning or mental and physical development, while others are purely recreational.

Waterstone College School of Arts offers additional classes to learners who want to develop their love for music and dance beyond what is offered as part of the school’s cultural activities. The centre’s exceptional facilities allow well-experienced tutors to provide learners with private or group lessons at an additional fee.

Enrichment programme

Our enrichment programme provides learners with life skills and exposure to interesting hobbies during the school day. These activities change each term and further help to provide learners with a well-rounded education that stretches far beyond academics. Activities range from cooking and science experiments to cardmaking and caring for the elderly.

Activities that form part of our enrichment programme can be viewed on our fact sheet.
