Northriding Pre-primary is an independent school in Northriding, Randburg, that provides high-quality early childhood development for children from 2 years to Grade R. As a Curro Select school, our small class sizes based on age allow our dedicated teachers to engage each child in our internally developed play-based curriculum and to build strong, caring relationships with each child. Our school is on the same campus as Northriding College, to allow our learners easy integration into primary school within a familiar environment.
Our school is affiliated with Sharonlea Childcare and Pre-primary, which is another Curro Select school specialising in early childhood development. Visit their website to view their offerings.
What do we offer?
At Northriding Pre-primary, we created a safe, nurturing centre of learning. Our carefully designed classrooms and playgrounds encourage children to explore a wide variety of experiences through play and developmental activities, aimed at developing a curious mind and creative thinking.
Our classes are divided by age group, and each teacher has a teacher’s assistant, depending on the number of children in the class. Furthermore, our internally developed programme incorporates the latest research in physical and cognitive development, such as encouraging loose-parts play that boost creativity and curiosity, above playing with single-purpose toys. We accommodate working parents by having an early drop-off service from 06:00 at no extra cost and full-day children are kept safe and busy on the campus until 18:30. We remain open during school holidays and host a variety of fun-filled activities.
We also accommodate Grade R learners in our nursery school. However, as their daily activities and programmes are built in to the foundation phase of primary school, please refer to our primary school webpage for information on our Grade R offering.
Which activities do we offer?
As a Curro Select school, we believe that participation in extramural activities plays an important role in promoting friendship and self-confidence in addition to physical and social well-being. Many of our activities are designed to help learners learn valuable skills that require more time for development than can be provided during the daily programme.
How do we ensure safety in our school?
Our strict security measures ensure the safety of our children. Access to the campus is restricted through biometric access, while CCTV cameras monitor the playgrounds as well as classrooms. Visitors need to sign in at reception to gain access. A daily register is taken and children are collected from the classroom and signed out daily to ensure that they remain safe and accounted for.
