High school

Senior phase: Grade 8 and Grade 9

At Curro Waterfall our learners are guided to adjust to a greater workload of higher intensity. Our teaching is aimed at developing innovative and critical thinking, while a problem-solving approach is taken to subjects such as Mathematics and Science. Our affordable, enhanced curriculum places a great emphasis on problem-solving and individual thinking, while 21st-century learning is implemented in subjects such as Technology and Innovation.

Our learners receive guidance when choosing their elective subjects at the end of Grade 9.

FET phase: From Grade 10

Through application-based teaching, the FET phase prepares learners for the IEB examinations written at the end of Grade 12. However, emphasis is placed on a greater world-readiness rather than a purely examination-driven approach. Our learners are taught to think innovatively, express their ideas and take charge of their own lives to be valued members of the community. We also provide them with an inherent dedication to hard work and achievement. Some of our specialised subjects include Information Technology, Engineering Graphics and Design and Computer Applications Technology. Learners can further benefit from having Innovation as a subject, which includes a drone curriculum, 3D printing, laser cutting and even coffee brewing.

Teaching takes place in English, but Afrikaans, isiZulu and Mandarin are available as additional language options.

Value-added programmes

We also offer value-added programmes as part of the school fees. These include Computer Science and coding, subject-specific specialist teaching, leadership camps, and more.

Value-added programmes offered at Curro Waterfall can be viewed on our fact sheet.

What about Grade 11 to Grade 12?

As higher grades are phasing in annually, a Grade 11 class will be available from 2021.

Optional eighth subject through Curro Choice

Curro Choice allows high-school learners at all Curro schools to take an additional eighth subject not offered at their school. Lessons take place in the afternoons through live lessons with teachers, and learners remain enrolled at their schools. Applications remain open throughout the year, and as the final exam is written at the school, their subject results will appear on their regular progress report.
