What do we offer?
At Curro Serengeti we balance academic excellence with sports and cultural well-being, thereby ensuring that learners develop into well-rounded individuals. Our small class sizes and enriched curriculum provide learners with an inherent dedication to hard work and excellence as well as 21st-century skills to prepare them for the workplace of the future. To that end, our classrooms and facilities are fitted with state-of-the-art tools and learners use e-learning devices in the classrooms, rather than textbooks, from the intermediate phase onwards.
Although teaching takes place in English, Afrikaans (from the primary school onwards) and isiZulu (Grades 1 and 2) are offered as additional language options. Our dedicated teachers give learners personal attention in the classroom, which helps to ensure that they achieve to the best of their abilities.
Which activities do we offer?
We believe that participation in activities plays an important role in promoting health, team-awareness, discipline and self-confidence in addition to physical and social well-being. Therefore, we offer a wide variety of sports and cultural activities, including mountain biking and Curro Create programmes, aimed at helping learners discover their inherent talents and broaden their exposure beyond their current reference framework. These activities are generally included in the school fees.
How do we use technology in the classroom?
Our learners benefit from the best 21st-century learning tools by having access to specialised subjects such as Robotics. In Grade R, the Duplo Lego programme introduces thinking patterns such as creative thinking and problem solving through fun, innovative play. These thinking patterns form the basis for an understanding of later Robotics studies.
Learners from intermediate phase onwards benefit from 21st-century learning by using tablets (e-books) rather than textbooks. Using innovative technology allows teachers to provide a wealth of information at the touch of a button and better prepares learners for the workplace of the future. Our modern classrooms for subjects such as Computer Applications Technology, Technology and Engineering Graphics and Design are fitted with state-of-the-art tools and equipment to ensure that learners learn skills that are current in the workplace.
