Intermediate phase: Grades 4 to 7

Sport at Curro is a unique experience for all our learners. We believe in the overall development of each individual and we ensure that sport forms an integral part of the unique balance of body, mind and spirit.

It is vital for the learners to participate in the sports activities every afternoon (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday).  We believe that every child should be exposed to as many different sporting codes as possible, giving them an opportunity to be more specialised as they move on.

We aim to be competitive with as many schools as possible, with the emphasis not necessarily on winning, but on the way in which the game is played. We have adopted the approach of ‘let the children play’, as we feel it is vitally important that children have fun and enjoyment in whatever sport they participate in. This being said, coaching is taken very seriously, and each individual is pushed to reach their optimum potential.

Sporting codes
Currently the following sporting codes are offered at the school: cricket, rugby, hockey (all girls and boys under 10 – under 13), tennis, athletics, cross-country and soccer (certain age groups only).

Swimming is not coached at the school, but we do enter competent and coached swimmers into the league. (Contact the school for more information.)

Equestrian is not coached at the school, but we do support competent and coached riders. Private riding schools/coaches are responsible for entries and events.

Curro Krugersdorp offers athletics to learners from Grades 1 to 7.  A total of 18 events are currently offered to learners.  Athletes must select their three best events in which they will participate at friendly athletics events and cluster meetings.

TAG rugby:  Tag rugby is offered only to boys under 6 and does not involve any physical contact.

TAU rugby:  Tau rugby is offered to boys under 7 and under 8 and it involves physical contact.

Senior rugby: Senior rugby is offered to boys under 9 to under 13 and involves physical contact.

Netball is offered at Curro Krugersdorp for girls aged under 6 to under 13 in the following formats:

Mini-netball: Mini netball is offered to girls under 6 to under 9.
