Primary school

Foundation phase: Grade R to Grade 3

Grade R is the bridge from the tangible world to the world of symbols and numbers in Grade 1. Therefore, we focus on an integrated play-based programme that aims to develop the children’s phonological, literacy, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills in a fun way. Some of our specialised offerings include the Bazoo literacy programme and NumberSense programme.

In Grade 1 to Grade 3 we focus on teaching the basic skills, concepts and knowledge required for further learning. We offer a vibrant, invitational atmosphere where learners enjoy coming to school and where they acquire a love for learning that will sustain them throughout their school years. The three main learning areas are language, mathematics and life skills that include creative arts and physical education. We also create opportunities for personal growth so that learners can become personally responsible and accountable for their actions when joining the intermediate phase.

Intermediate phase (Grade 4 to Grade 6) and Grade 7

In these grades, the emphasis is still on establishing basic foundations, but learners are led into more abstract thought and independent work. We prepare them for high school by teaching them how to apply the skills and concepts they have learned. We also promote creativity and critical thinking by encouraging children to make their own choices within well-established boundaries. Learners in the intermediate phase further benefit from our 21st-century learning approach by using tablets rather than textbooks.
