Our aftercare service is available for learners from Grade R to Grade 7 at an additional cost, as stipulated on our fees letter. Learners are accommodated in safe classrooms and playgrounds, and the fees include 1 hour of supervised homework. This year, 2021, we have introduced an ‘ASC (after-school care) programme which aims to redefine what homework is. We have created a space that learners enjoy and the burden of parents having to ensure all homework is done is alleviated.
We offer and exciting holiday care programme at an additional daily cost. Learners enjoy fun-filled daily activities at school during the school holidays. Each holiday follows an exciting theme and parents are sent an outline for the holiday period.
We invite the current Grade 6 learners to attend a leadership programme during a selected holiday in the year. They follow the leader-in-me programme and assist with the younger learners. Their ability to help others and to lead are observed and feedback is provided to the head of school to ensure the appropriate leaders are selected as prefects.
Modern classrooms and sports fields
At Cooper College, we created a safe, modern environment where children can grow accustomed to learning and exercising with modern equipment and facilities. Therefore, classrooms are equipped with SMARTboards and 21st-century learning tools, while our sports facilities provide the best and safest options for practice.
Parent Advisory Committee
As a Curro Select school, we encourage parents to play a role in managing our school through a duly-elected parent advisory committee (PAC). As the name indicates, the PAC’s role is strictly an advisory one – they do not make and enforce decisions regarding school matters. The committee comprises of parents of current learners.
At Cooper College, our PAC act as liaison between the school and parents, raise funds through specific events throughout the year and host social and fellowship events. Through the PAC, parents can share their input in a structured manner to the benefit of the learners and school; as a school community they can, therefore, be involved in the operational success of the school.
