On August 8, Curro Mossel Bay celebrated Megan Robertson's achievements in sailing so far. She participated in Italy and North Africa in 2014 to be able to be one of only four African athletes chosen to take part in the 2014 Youth Olympics. Apart from it being her birthday on 9 August, she also left for China to have a go at Olympic gold.
In true Curro Mossel Bay fashion, teacher Surita Febbraio (above right), our own olympic participant and medallist, gave her a few tips on how to handle the pressures of such a huge competition. Her heartfelt speech almost drove her to tears (and the rest of us too) because all her own olympic memories suddenly came flooding back. Mrs Febbraio participated in two senior Olympic Games in the past. We are sure that Megan enjoyed the pep talk, the lovely flowers and the cards the Grades 1 to 4 learners made for her to wish her good luck.
