Cultural activities offered:
High school phase: Grades 8 to 12
Culture is one of the foundational pillars of developing a well-balanced learner. At Curro Embury College, learners are offered the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of cultural activities, from choir to drama. In this way, learners can develop a love for art, regardless of their abilities in sport or academics.
We are extremely fortunate at Curro Embury to have a music department that is led by an extraordinarily talented pianist and musician, Evan Cullum.
Our choirs perform at various school and regional events that are held throughout the year, for which the learners prepare on a term basis. These performances foster and encourage self-expression, confidence and maturity.
Each class has music lessons factored into their individual timetables.
Early-morning marimba lessons take place twice a week in the music room.
Drama at Curro Embury forms an integral part of the curriculum and provides our learners with the opportunity to express themselves in a safe space.
In the high school, the learners are prepared by Mrs Cloete, a drama subject specialist and an expert in her own right. Drama is offered as a matric subject, and our learners are not only exposed to productions, but also to the subject's finer characteristics and innuendos.
