2 Knit Flyer Guiness Participants HR

Curro Aurora Private School has taken up the challenge to break a Guinness World Record and in doing so saw a huge opportunity for all Curro Private schools to get involved and serve their surrounding underprivileged communities.

The Guinness World Record Challenge:To make the World’s largest knitted blanket. The current record: 2500m²

Community service challenge: Curro schools to take part in a knitting squares challenge. These will in turn be used to make blankets, which will be distributed to vulnerable children and people in the schools surrounding communities.

How can you help:

  • Knit squares, 20cm x 20cm, using any wool, and sew these together into blankets OR
  • Knit squares and deliver them to your closest Curro School, who will send them to Aurora to add to the huge blanket.
  • Last day for delivery 11 June 2012.
  • Get as many people as you can to assist with the knitting of squares.
  • Assist with sewing the squares into blankets.
  • Donate wool and/ or needles.

Time Line:

  • 11 June: Knitting ends
  • Friday 15 June: All blankets delivered to Curro Aurora
  • 16-17 June 07h00 – 07h00: Curro Aurora will hold a 24 hour stay awake, to sew all squares together into a huge blanket, and sew remaining loose squares into smaller blankets. Curro students, parents and supporters are welcome to join and help. More details will follow closer to the time.
  • Saturday 23 June: Guinness World Record Event takes place at Curro Aurora: 09h00
  • 25-29 June: Large blanket to be broken up into smaller blankets and returned to all individual schools who took part.
  • 18 July 2012: Nelson Mandela’s birthday,’ 67 minutes of community service’: schools distribute blankets to the needy.

 SOLIS VIR CHRISTUS OP ALMAL SE LIPPE IN GAUTENG!


Die finaal van die gewilde TV-reeks op Kruiskyk, Tienerzone met Solis vir Christus was weer 'n reuse sukses. Met meer as 1000 toeskouers, 4 beoordelaars en R140 000 se pryse op die spel, was die spanningsvlakke baie hoog in die Kemptonpark se burgersentrum.

Nadat 15 skole se leerders die kans gekry het om te kompeteer in die uitdun-proses gedurende die 1ste kwartaal hierdie jaar, was dit verseker 'n geleentheid waar van Suid-Afrika se beste nuwelinge op een verhoog kon bymekaar kom om vir die gehoor en kykers te wys, hoekom hulle het wat nodig is, om die volgende kampioen te wees.

Solis vir Christus is huidiglik die enigste Televisie reeks waar skoolgaande leerlinge die kans kry om hulle talente op nasionale vlak ten toon te stel, en sodoende die eerste stap in die regte rigting neem met hulle sang talente.

Die wenners is op 22 April gekroon tydens hierdie glansgeleentheid.  Die beoordelaars was Martin Lane, Zita Pretorius, Kobus Dippenaar en Jaap van Nieuwenhuizen, die wenners is afkomstig van Curro Kollege Hazeldean, Alma Mater akademie en Laerskool Concordia.

Curro Bankenveld wins prestigious award

Curro Bankenveld has won a national online newspaper competition. This school was one of the top 5 schools in the country running this competition. The team lead by Mr L Mare did a wonderful job in creating a very informative website.
