FOUNDATION PHASE HEAD: SANET MYBURGH

ATTACHED PLEASE FIND THE OFFICIAL SCHOOL POLICY DOCUMENTS

At Curro our aim is to offer our very best to each learner to support their independent development. To achieve this objective, we as educators and parents should work together as a team in support of each other.

The following subjects are offered in the foundation phase:

·         A language at home language level
·         A language at first additional language level
·         Mathematics
·         Life Skills

The Foundation Phase should be regarded as a unit where one grade is an extention of the previous grade.  A great deal of repetition is done throughout the phase, but the level of difficulty varies, e.g. the numbers in Numeracy become more complicated.  Consequently, the learners'  reasoning skills are developed.

In every learning area, provision is made for learners who need assistance.  In such cases, learners get a stamp, "Assistance", in their books.  Learners who progress quickly, are encouraged to do additional or enriching work.  These learners also get an "Enrichment" stamp in their books.

Grade R students do NOT need stationery, as this forms part of the monthly consumable fee of R240.
