INTRODUCING OUR EXECUTIVE HEAD
MR BRIAN O'NEIL
Brian O’Neil is a passionate educator who qualified in 1998 at the North West University with a diploma in higher education. He recently completed a Leadership Development Program at Wits Business School and passed with merit. Brian has been in independent education for 8 years where he currently holds the position of Deputy Headmaster of Operations at Redhill Preparatory School. He had the privilege of teaching in both government, co-ed and independent as well as monastic schools. He taught in the United Kingdom for two years where he was introduced to the latest international trends in education. As a SMART Exemplary Educator, Brian was involved in the roll-out of the tablet program at Pridwin Preparatory School as well as staff development with regards to IT integration into the classroom.
Brian believes that to prepare pupils for the 21st century, we should focus on skills such as collaboration, creativity, confidence and the ability to communicate well and interdependently. We are preparing the pupils for a career that might not yet exist. That is why the African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child” is more of a reality in the global village we live in today. We live in a tough economic climate and that is why the school, parents and the community need to work hand in hand to raise young leaders that will make a difference in the world they live in.
Brian is a family man who loves sport, camping and the outdoors. He has been married to Irma, a language teacher at Kingsmead College, for almost thirteen years. Brian is also the proud father of two daughters, Irné (10) and Rouxlé (7) and son, Ryan (2). Being a parent, Brian understands the importance of education, never forgetting to nurture and to ensure the happiness of every child.
