This code of ethics should be read in conjunction with the Curro Code of Conduct

Summer uniform

  • Gingham short sleeved shirts with school tie.
  • Khaki Bermuda trousers / shorts.
  • Prescribed navy belt.
  • Prescribed Curro tie (whole year).
  • Navy pull-over with Curro logo (optional in summer).
  • Navy bobby socks.
  • Black lace-up shoes (may be bought from any supplier). No shiny, sharp pointed shoes may be worn. Neither do we allow any pattern of any nature.

Winter uniform

Gingham long-sleeved shirts with school tie.

Khaki chino trousers / shorts.

Prescribed navy belt.

Navy long sleeved jersey with Curro logo (worn only under school blazer, NEVER worn on its own)

Prescribed Curro tie (whole year).

Navy Curro blazer (compulsory).

Navy bobby socks.

Black lace-up shoes (may be bought from any supplier). No pattern on any kind is allowed on the shoes.

 

Girls

  • Black lace-up shoes or neat black school shoes with a strap and button or buckle. (May be bought from other suppliers).

OFFICIAL SPORTWEAR

 

Only the prescribed sportswear is allowed.  Items are available from the official supplier.  This is needed for Physical Education in grade 8 and 9.

 

  • Curro golf shirt.
  • Navy quantec shorts.
  • Navy quantec track suit.
  • A recognised sport shoe – as neutral as possible.
  • Team sportswear as approved by executive management.

 

OUR SCHOOL UNIFORM IN PRACTICE:  BOYS

 

  1. TROUSERS
  • Only wear the prescribed navy belt with your trousers.
  • Trousers must be of a suitable length.
  • Trousers must be clean and ironed.
  • Trousers should fit properly and should not be dragged down below the hips.
  •  
  1. SHOES:
  • Only standard black lace-up shoes, not rivets or the boot-type. Shoes must have thin rubber soles.
  • Laces should be laced-up and tied appropriately.
  • No sharp point, shiny shoes may be worn.
  •  
  1. SHIRTS
  • Button shirt all the way to the top.
  • A tie is compulsory.
  • Short sleeved shirts may not be rolled up.
  • Shirts always have to be tucked in.
  •  
  1. SOCKS:
  • The official socks should be worn with both pants.
  • Socks must always be worn pulled up properly.
  •  
  1. TIES:
  • Ties have to be tied neatly.
  • The tie must be tied in such a way that it reaches the learner’s trousers.
  •  
  1. JERSEYS:
  • Only the jerseys with the Curro logo are acceptable.
  • Worn out jerseys are not allowed.
  • The long sleeved jersey may only be worn underneath the blazer, and NEVER on its own.
  • The sleeves may not be rolled up or pulled up nor be pulled over the hands.
  •  
  1. STEP OUTS:
  • Trousers, shirt, pull-over and blazer.
  •  
  1. HAIR:
  • The hair style may not draw any unnecessary attention to it.
  • Boys’ hair must be neatly styled in a conservative standard cut (no shorter than a #4).
  • It must be cut short. Hair that touches the ear is too long.
  • Hair must be neatly combed, not have the bed-head appearance or hang in the eyes. It may not be cut unevenly or be gelled.
  • No Mohawk or comb-over hair styles will be approved.
  • The hair my not have a clear step, nor may it be cut longer at the top and shaved at and above the ears.
  • Hair may not be coloured. No streaks, tints or high-lights are permitted. No wet look or hair gel permitted.
  • Hair may not reach/touch the collar of your school shirt. When the head is held upright, the hair may not touch the collar.
  • Hair should be clean.
  • Boys should shave every day.
  • Side-burns may only reach halfway down the ear lobe and no moustaches will be allowed.
  • African students are permitted a shorter cut.
  • No plaits, corn rows, dreadlocks or extensions are allowed.
  • Hair may not be worn Afro.
  • If you have curly hair, it may only be a length of 1 cm.
  •  
  1. JEWELLERY:
  • Watches must be conservative. Designs and colours should be kept simple.
  • No rings, bracelets or bangles are permitted.
  • No earrings.
  • Only medical bracelets are allowed.

 

OUR SCHOOL UNIFORM IN PRACTICE:  GIRLS

 

  1. SKIRTS:
  • A girl’s skirt is the appropriate length when she kneels and the distance between the floor and the skirt is no more than 5cm.
  •  
  1. SHOES:
  • Only standard lace-up shoes or buckled school shoes are permitted.
  • Shoes should be laced-up appropriately and buckles should be fastened at all times.
  • Shoes have to appear shiny and clean at all times.
  •  
  1. SHIRTS:
  • Fasten the top button of the shirt.
  • Short sleeved shirts should be worn in summer and long-sleeved shirts in winter.
  • Long-sleeved shirts may not be rolled up.
  • Shirts always have to be tucked in.
  •  
  1. SOCKS:
  • Short, prescribed navy anklets in summer.
  • Socks have to be folded over.
  • Prescribed navy tights in the winter.
  •  
  1. TIES:
  • Ties have to be tied neatly.
  • Tie the top button of the shirt when a tie is worn.
  • The tie must be tied in such a way that it reaches the learner’s skirt.
  •  
  1. JERSEYS:
  • Only jerseys with the Curro logo are acceptable.
  • Worn out jerseys are not permitted.
  • The long sleeved jersey may only be worn underneath the blazer, and NEVER on its own.
  • The sleeves may not be rolled up nor be pulled over the hands.

  1. STEPS OUTS:
  • Summer: Short navy anklets, skirt, short sleeved shirt, pull-over and blazer.
  • Winter: Long navy tights, shirt, long sleeved shirt, pull-over and blazer.
  •  
  1. HAIR:
  • The hair style may not draw any unnecessary attention to it.
  • Hair may not be coloured or high-lighted.
  • Any girl, who colours her hair, will have to re-colour it to its natural, original colour.
  • Only navy blue hair accessories allowed for the grade 8 – 11 girls.
  • Hair may not hang in the eyes or hang loose at the ears.
  • Long hair should be tied into a ponytail or plait. LONG HAIR SHOULD ALWAYS BE TIED NEATLY.
  • The fringe may not touch the eye-brows.
  • No Afro hair styles are allowed.
  • If you have curly hair, it is only allowed to have a natural length of
  • 3 cm.
  • Hair must be clean.
  • Plaits and extensions must have the natural colour of the child’s hair.
  • No clips with butterflies, flowers, etc. will be allowed.
  • No “mod” hair styles, e.g. punk or little curls or pigtails hanging down the back, sides or on top of the head.
  • If a learner’s hear hangs below her collar, it should be tied.
  • Short bob hair styles may not hang in the eyes or face.
  • Braids are allowed on the condition that they are not thicker than 0.5 cm, using three strands.
  • The plaits may be a maximum of 35 centimetres and must be of one length.
  • “Corn rows” allowed in a linear pattern only.
  • No dread-locks are allowed.
  •  
  1. JEWELLERY:
  • Watches must be conservative. Designs and colours should be kept simple.
  • No rings, bangles or bracelets are permitted.
  • Earrings: only studs (gold or silver) or shorter standard type earring (gold or silver). Only one earring per ear and in the bottom piercing.
  • No gems or other stones are permitted.
  • Only medical bracelets are allowed.
  •  
  1. MAKE-UP
  • No make-up is allowed (NO base, mascara, lipstick or eye-liner)
  • No permanent make-up is allowed.
  • Lip gloss must be colourless.
  • Medicated skin treatment should not be visible.
  • No eye make-up is allowed.
  • Coloured or white nail polish is not allowed, only clear nail hardener.
  • French manicures are not allowed.
  • Nails may not stick out more than 1mm above the points of the fingers.

 

SCHOOL BAGS

 

Only navy / dark blue bags will be allowed.  School bags should preferably have divider sections to support books.  Absolutely no writing, pictures, stickers or decorations will be allowed on the outside of school bags.  No bags with wheels are allowed.

 

GENERAL

 

  1. No ear phones to be worn with school uniform.
  2. Tattoos are not permitted. If a child has a tattoo it should be covered at all times.
  3. When children go on educational trips/tours, they have to wear their step outs.
  4. The improper use of cell phones or tablets during school hours.
  5. When children go on education trips/tours, they have to wear their step outs.

  • Seuns se langbroeke moet reg om die heupe pas – die broek mag nie tussen die bene hang nie.

  • Die hare mag nie ʼn duidelik stap inhê nie, of lank bo en kaal geskeer langs die ore wees nie.
  • Hare mag nie gekleur of getint word nie, en sonstrepe mag nie ingesit word nie. Geen “wet look” of haarjel word toegelaat nie.
  • Hare mag nie aan die skoolhemp se kraag raak nie. As die kop regop gehou word, mag die hare nie aan die kraag raak nie.
  • Hare moet skoon wees.
  • Seuns moet elke dag skoon geskeer wees.
  • Wangbaarde mag net tot by die helfte van die oor strek en snorre is ontoelaatbaar.
  • Geen haarverlengings of “dreadlocks” nie.
  • Hare mag nie “Afro” gedra word nie.
  • As jy krulhare het, mag dit net ʼn natuurlike lengte van 1cm hê.

  • Slegs funksionele polshorlosies mag gedra word. Geen uitspattige kleure/style nie.

  1. ROMPE:
  • Lengte wanneer dogters kniel – nie meer as 5 cm bokant die knie nie.

  • Slegs swart standaard skoolskoene met veters of gespes.
  • Veters moet normaal geryg wees en gespes moet te alle tye vasgemaak wees.
  • Skoene moet daagliks skoon en blink wees.

  • Maak die boonste hempsknoop vas.
  • Kortmouhemde in die somer en langmouhemde in die winter.
  • Langmouhemde se moue mag nie opgerol word nie.
  • Hemde moet te alle tye by die romp ingesteek wees.

  • Kort, vlootblou voorgeskrewe sokkies by somersdrag.
  • Sokkies moet omgevou wees (slegs eenkeer).
  • Voorgeskrewe lang vlootblou broekiekouse in die winter.

  • Dasse moet netjies geknoop word.

  • Lang hare moet styf agtertoe gebind word in ʼn poniestert of vlegsel. LANG HARE MOET TE ALLE TYE VAS WEES.
  • Die kuif mag nie aan die wenkbroue raak nie.
  • Lang hare moet glad agtertoe gebind word.
  • Geen “Afro” word toegelaat nie.
  • As jy krulhare het, moet dit ʼn natuurlike lengte of hoogte van 3 cm hê.
  • Hare moet skoon wees.
  • Vlegsels en alle insetsels moet natuurlik asook die kleur van die kind se hare wees.
  • Geen knippies met vlinders, blomme, ens. word toegelaat nie.
  • Geen poniesterte op die kop nie.
  • As ʼn dogter se hare onder haar kraag hang, moet dit vasgemaak word.
  • Kort “bob”-haarstyle mag nie in die oë of gesig hang nie.
  • Vlegsels word net toegelaat op voorwaarde dat hulle nie dikker as 0,5 sentimeter dik is nie.
  • Die vlegsels mag ʼn maksimum van 35 sentimeter lank wees en moet een lengte wees.
  • “Corn-rows” mag net in reguitlyne gedoen word.
  • Geen “dread-locks” word toegelaat nie.
  •  
  1. JUWELE:

  1. GRIMERING:
  • Geen grimering word toegelaat nie (geen onderlaag, maskara, lipstiffie of oogomlyner).
  • Geen permanente grimering is toelaatbaar nie.
  • Lipsalf moet kleurloos wees.
  • Velmiddels vir medisinale doeleindes moet nie sigbaar aangewend word nie (doktersbrief word vereis).
  • Gekleurde of wit naellak is nie toelaatbaar nie, slegs kleurlose naelversterker.
  • Geen Franse manikuur word toegelaat nie.
  • Naels mag nie meer as 1mm oor die vingerpunte uitsteek nie.

 

SKOOLTASSE

Slegs vlootblou / donkerblou skooltasse is toelaatbaar.  Tasse moet verkieslik stewig wees en vakkies hê om boeke te ondersteun.  Absoluut geen skrywery, prente, plakkers of versierings word buite op tasse toegelaat nie.  Geen tasse met wieletjies word toegelaat nie.

ALGEMEEN:

    1. Geen oorfone mag saam met die skoolklere gedra word nie.
    2. Geen tatoeëermerke word toegelaat nie. Indien daar ʼn tatoeëermerke is, moet dit te alle tye bedek wees.
    3. Wanneer die kinders op uitstappies gaan moet hul uitgaandrag dra.
