FOUNDATION PHASE (GRADE R to GRADE 3)
In the foundation phase, focus is placed on the acquisition of skills, concepts and knowledge that are essential for further excellent learning. Curro offers a dynamic and invitational atmosphere where learners enjoy school and develop a LOVE FOR LEARNING. Curro acknowledges the potential of each learner to reach their optimum ability and therefore less emphasis is placed on competitiveness and more on individual achievement. Curro creates opportunities for personal growth in INDEPENDENCE and RESPONSIBILITY so that learners become accountable for their actions in the intermediate phase.
The three main LEARNING AREAS in the foundation phase are:
Mathematics is taught with a learner-centred, problem-solving approach. Curro believes that this approach, combined with the cognitive development that happens with ROBOTICS teaching, gives young minds an advantage in terms of brain development.
Curro also believes that READING WITH COMPREHENSION is the key to successful learning. Grade 3 learners are tested with well-researched literacy and numeracy tests to monitor the effectiveness of teaching and learning in classrooms.
INTERMEDIATE PHASE (GRADE 4 to GRADE 6)
SENIOR PHASE (GRADE 7)
In the intermediate phase, the emphasis is still on establishing basic foundations, but learners are led into more ABSTRACT THOUGHT and INDEPENDENT work. Application of skills and concepts is also a main focus, aiming to prepare learners for the senior phase in high school.
