“I know many parents are faced with the choice IEB or National Certificate. As many of you know, Marco missed his first varsity semester due to his accident. Fortunately UCT accepted him with a full complement of 2nd semester courses. Maths/stats and economics course are repeated in the 2nd semester due to the amount of students that need to repeat these two courses. Marco has slotted into these courses. In just the last 3 days of attendance, unlike his National Certificate counterparts, he already experienced the privilege of having written IEB. Unlike the other students who are repeating the course, Marco fully understands the content of his lectures as most of this was covered in his matric year. Last night he went through his first economics tutorial and was able to complete it without even attending all the required lectures. His fellow students, not Marco, have attributed this to him having written IEB. I can just hope that he continues to reap the benefits of the sacrifices we’ve made in keeping him at Curro. And a huge thank you to teachers like Miss Tucker, Miss Zietsman and Mr van der Hoven who were all responsible for Marco having chosen the path he chose. I salute these teachers!”
